5 Ways To Stay Fit At Work

If you still haven’t taken my advice to quit working from 9am till 5pm and become a freelancer instead, you will definitely recognize yourself in the following situation. Your back hurts all day long, you suffer from leg cramps, look exhausted and your posture is half humped.

I remember that when I had to go work at a desk from Monday to Friday my body felt like crap because of the stiffness. Even though, I used to fix my alarm at 5.30am every other morning to go through my training exercises, it still wasn’t enough to make me efficient through the rest of the day.

Although I consider cleaning as one of the best workouts ever, I don’t always find the time to do it myself. Most of the time, I just prefer going to the gym and leaving the work to an established cleaning company.

Stay FIt
However, one day I just decided that I had to change something in my to-stay-fit routine and minimize the negative impact of sitting at a desk. Here are my 5 secrets to staying fit at work:

1. Go Around The Neighbourhood

I found out that every time when I start feeling wrecked, it get a lot better if my coworkers and I go around the office and refresh ourselves for a while. We had a traditional walk out to get a cup of black coffee and lunch to the local grocery store. It was a pretty good reason to shake up the stiffness and release the stress. Just make sure you have a pair of sneakers or flats with you to make yourself comfortable while getting fit.

2. Stretch Out Your Body

stretching

Staying static for a long time during the day can be lethal for your body and overall health. It causes a number of negative effects on your muscles, arteries and it is one of the main reasons why many women suffer from cellulite. You can easily include some different stretching exercises in your working routine as you stand up from your desk, let’s say, every hour and do some stretching to stay fit. Livestrong reccomends to stand up from the desk and try a toe-touch streching exercise for a few minutes. It is surprising that this simple action is going to activate the calorie-burning process in your body. Roll your head from one side to the other to release the stifness in your neck and then complete a couple of air circles with your arms. Repeat the same routine on every hour and you will soon feel the difference.

3. Use The Stairs

hit the stairs

Forget about the elevator on your way to work. It only implies a way to affirm that you are a lazy chic. According to the creators of Beachbody, using the elevator is quite a possible reason to throw you in a weight-loss plato. And it will be really hard for you to ever find your way out. If you need to find a deeper meaning to switching it with the stairs, think about the amount of electricity you are going to save with simply walking your way. And not in the last place, you will feel more satisfied than ever when everyone starts making you compliments about your toned butt and thighs!

4. Improve Your Posture

good posture

Putting an effort in getting a better posture at the desk will easily increase the energy flow in your body. [Bob Harper wikipedia], the trainer of the beasts in ‘The Biggest Loser‘, reccomends that we should try to fix our spines in a straight line. Your back will thank you later!

5. Organize A Gym Room At Work

If you can find a spare room in the office, arranging a gym is going to be a huge step towards keeping fit and staying healthy. There are thousands of HIIT workouts, which you can do quickly but still efficiently during your lunch break, for instance. You can either use some equipment such a Swiss ball, a T-grip or a kettlebell, or you can just use your body weight and still get amazing results. Impress your buddies in the office with your discipline while they have lunch at the local bakery. Just one HIIT workout a day will boost your health and improve your blood circulation.

Have you tried any of these steps to stay fit at work? Or do you have any other secrets in the keeping-fit-and-healthy journey?

I can’t wait to read what you want to share in the comments below.

XoXo,
